Palazzo Molteni is an eclectic and flexible space that showcases the identity and values of Molteni&C. Founded in 1934, Molteni&C has been promoting the culture of quality living for over ninety years, collaborating with internationally renowned designers to furnish every corner of the home.
“It is a palazzo, but also a domestic universe, a private place that we wanted to recreate inside a monumental building of great allure that will be our home. A sensorial world: a journey full of surprises, all just waiting to be discovered.”
Vincent Van Duysen
A destination and meeting place dedicated to design.
Conceived as an urban pavilion in the heart of Milan’s vibrant via Manzoni, Palazzo Molteni is both a Molteni&C Flagship Store and a breeding ground for cultural exchange and collaboration in many forms.
The palazzo was originally constructed in the late 19th century as a residence for a prominent Milanese family. In 1922, the building underwent a transformation led by Italian designers Giuseppe Mentasti and Stefano Lissoni to incorporate Italian “Liberty” (Art Nouveau) flourishes that complement the neoclassical architecture, adding a layer of charm and unique history.
For his complete redesign of the 3,000-square-meter interior, Vincent Van Duysen was inspired to recreate an atmosphere resembling the home of an art and design collector. The pathway through the seven floors of the palazzo takes one on a journey that honors the extraordinary history of Molteni&C as it paves the way for the brand’s global future.
Elisa Ossino curated the art side of the design, enriching the sensorial experience thanks to a selection of works that bring alive highly evocative situations including pieces by Dimore Studio, selected directly from their archive to bring the rooms alive.
The upper two levels of Palazzo Molteni house the Molteni Galleria, part of the Molteni&C headquarters, featuring lounges, meeting rooms, hanging gardens and terraces. The Galleria serves as a dynamic venue for both private and public events and is enriched by an exclusive selection of works by Peter Schuyff, represented by the MASSIMODECARLO gallery.
Contemporary art blends with design to create a unique visual experience with a selection of works that span from the 1980s to the present day, inviting deep reflection on repetition and geometry, the core themes of his artistic research.
