Molteni&C proudly unveils its eagerly anticipated new flagship store in Washington, D.C. With this stunning 7000 square foot showroom Molteni&C expands its rapidly growing influence on the American market, in one of the country’s most important cities.
Set in the vibrant Georgetown district northwest of D.C., the flagship store takes its place amidst a legacy of colonial history and architecture. Designated a National Historic Landmark, the neighborhood is known for its mid-18th century estates and cobblestone streets. A fitting backdrop for a brand whose commitment to tradition has been unwavering since its founding in 1934.
The new store is a perfect addition to the already bustling Arts and Culture District of Georgetown. Throughout history artists, designers and craftspeople have united in this area to share ideas and inspiration. With the opening of the flagship location, Molteni&C offers its own unique perspective on design to the residents of this region.
Stepping into the expansive store, guests are greeted by a welcoming dining area dominated by the VVD island. Cherished pieces such as Vincent Van Duysen’s Mateo and Regent tables, and Herzog & de Meuron’s Porta Volta chairs display a contemporary yet cozy interpretation of a modern-day gathering space. Underfoot, Marta Ferri’s Vibrazioni carpet invites visitors further into the experience.
Two living areas demonstrate the timeless Molteni&C style. The first features a lovely collection of Vincent Van Duysen furniture such as the Augusto sofa, Mateo table, Paula armchair and Louisa coffee table. A second living area marries the brand’s storied past with its passion for innovation with heritage pieces from the Gio Ponti collection arranged seamlessly with modern-day designs from Van Duysen and Dada Engineered.
To conclude the tour, a final kitchen area presents Vincent Van Duysen’s Intersection Island with Woody stools by Francesco Meda. Guests are invited to explore the ingenuity behind the Hector modular bookcase system. Notable pieces of furniture such as the Pannacotta coffee table by Ron Gilad, Van Duysen’s Paul sofa and Elain armchair, and Heritage-collection Blevio table seamlessly integrate luxury and hospitality.
The D.C. flagship store is a culmination of 90 years of Italian tradition and an homage to the master designers that have contributed to the Molteni&C legacy and art of living.
