Chairs are essential elements in the furnishing of every space. From the living room to the kitchen, the study to the bedroom, there is no room that cannot be enhanced by a designer chair. The sinuous lines and flowing shapes of Molteni&C's collection combine innovative materials with handcrafted working methods. The collection defies convention with enveloping aesthetics and comfortable seating. Variations of comfortable seating suitable for every circumstance alternate between table armchairs, ideal for a living space or functional study, modern dining chairs, and more. All the value of craftsmanship is expressed in the processing of raw materials of absolute quality: from wood to fabric, from leather to regenerated leather, with details made with care and passion.
The Devon collection bears the signature of Rodolfo Dordoni and expresses the value of craftsmanship: the processing of top-quality raw materials and details executed with care and passion can be found in every element. All structures are solid ash stained in eucalyptus, walnut, graphite oak, gray oak, and black oak. Barbican is a multifaceted design that redefines the chair in a contemporary way. The collection consists of a series of comfortable modern-design chairs suitable for all types of furniture. The shell, made of rigid polyurethane, can be upholstered in fabric, leather, or regenerated leather. Three types of bases composed of different materials, such as wood or metal, can be combined with the seat. Chelsea chairs blend the essence of contemporary creation with the memory of tradition.
The Tea chair, designed by James Morrison, is a tribute to lightness: it modernizes the concept of seating, adapting it to all types of furniture. The frame, made entirely of solid wood, outlines and lets you perceive the profile of the chair in its entirety.
The Janet chair, with or without an armrest, was designed by Vincent Van Duysen. Its solid wood frame, with clean, delicate lines, can go with a multitude of different tables. Janet is offered with fabric or leather upholstery in the Molteni&C range. Porta Volta, by Herzog & De Meuron, makes an immediate impact. The key design element is the solid wood backrest, which, with its U-shape, gives an inviting and enveloping effect. The four legs and backrest are slightly tilted outward, which gives comfort and stability. It comes in two different sizes that allow you to choose the most functional and practical version, depending on your needs. The taller model (71 cm) is perfect as a designer kitchen chair, while the 66 cm chair is ideal for the living or study environment.
Woody, by Francesco Meda, is a chair with fluid forms and a solid wood frame. The design for Gio Ponti's D.235.1 chair is a reinterpretation of the Montecatini creation, dating back to 1935. The 2012 version, reissued by Molteni&C in agreement with Ponti's heirs, is all aluminum.
Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola presents the Glove project: an entire family of unconventional chairs with a technological structure and strategic padding. Glove won the 2007 Chicago Athenaeum Good Design Award. Glove-Up represents the evolution of Glove's sinuous, molded, and softly connected lines, resulting in a witty yet versatile seat suitable for both classic and contemporary settings.
The form of Miss, by Tobia Scarpa, is a system of lines with a soft, continuous mark. The frame is made of ash (natural or stained black), while the seat can be made of leather or woven rope in ecru and gray. This chair won the Wallpaper* Design Award's Best Reissue in 2017. Outline, by Arik Levy, is the ideal companion to all tables thanks to the multiplicity of versions available: in fabric or leather and fabric, with metal or wooden legs. Alfa, designed by Hannes Wettstein, comes from the coupling of only two pieces: one is the backrest that continues into the rear legs, and the other is the seat that extends into the front legs. Both pieces are made of resin composite and fiberglass-reinforced polyester. Winner project of the ICFF Editors Awards (USA) in 2001.
