The Tivalì kitchen by Dada designed by Dante Bonuccelli contains within a single block the concepts of technology and functionality like few other products can do. The idea is that of a concealed kitchen which, with a few simple and fluid movements of the doors, can be “unlined” only in case of need, thus allowing to optimize the domestic space as much as possible, which when the box kitchen remains closed is however embellished by the elegance of the finishes.
DANTE BONUCCELLI BIOGRAPHY AND WORKS
Before arriving in Italy and enriching the world of design with his ideas, Dante Bonuccelli molded his mind in Argentina, precisely in Buenos Aires, where he was born in 1956 and obtained his degree in architecture in 1979.
After his education, he feels the call of the beautiful country and above all of a rapidly expanding sector, deciding to open his architecture and design studio in Milan in 1984, which will allow the world to know his desire for continuous experimentation, which brings him to apply an architectural approach to design with great attention to detail and attention to functionality.
It is also thanks to his desire to set his hand at ever new concepts that Bonuccelli becomes a design consultant for the companies of the Molteni Dada and Unifor Group: for the first time he takes care of several innovative projects, which revolutionize the way of looking at the kitchen, trying to bring this environment domestic in the contemporary world. This is how not only the Tivalì box kitchen was born, and later its Tivalì 2.0 reinterpretation, but also collections such as Vela, which gives new life to the original project by Ferruccio Laviani, and Trim.
The great success achieved by Bonuccelli has led him over the years to work for clients of all types and fields, from IBM and Eni to Vodafone and Bocconi University.
DADA CONCEALED KITCHEN
Dada and Dante Bonuccelli proved to be pioneers in this trend, launching the Tivalì box kitchen in 2004, the basic concept of which was then reinterpreted in other collections by the same company, as well as having inspired other design houses.
The concealed models are in fact the ideal solution for those who want to make the kitchen and living room coexist in an “open” and connected area, without necessarily making the show kitchen, the one to be shown to guests, the protagonist of the house.
In addition to the quality factor, therefore, attention is dedicated to the sliding mechanisms and doors which in a few seconds, and with simple gestures, must make the environment more formal, without sacrificing the elegance that is given by quality finishes and geometric precision.
After the success of Tivalì, the approach was also simulated on other models, such as Trim by Bonuccelli himself, Intersection by Vincent Van Duysen or Vela.
TIVALì DADA: DESIGN AND OPINIONS
When Dada and Dante Bonuccelli launched Tivalì on the market in 2004, the idea was to go beyond the concept of a simple kitchen, showing how it was possible to create a box kitchen capable of appearing and disappearing as needed, thus transforming the home environment in just a few steps.
The final result is characterized by a very clean look, thanks to large doors that find “refuge” in the side compartments with fluid and light movements, all thanks to a mechanism utilized by Dada.
To testify the great acceptance of Tivalì by the critics, there have also been prestigious awards over the years, such as the ADI Index award in 2005 and the Red Dot Design Award best of the best in 2008.
