At the beginning of the new millennium the Italian AIRC cancer research foundation and the ADI industrial design association teamed up to launch LOVE DESIGN®, a significant two-yearly event that brings together design enthusiasts, furniture manufacturers and the top scientific community.
The 2019 event, the ninth, will be staged once again in the Fabbrica del Vapore, the ideal space generously provided by Milan City Hall, which has always been sensitive to and supportive of this project.
Since the initial event in 2003, LOVE DESIGN® has distributed almost 20 thousand design items provided by 520 companies, for a total of over 2 million euros earmarked for outstanding scientific research.
The funds raised by LOVE DESIGN® 2019 will fund three 3-year scholarships, each worth 75 thousand euros, to be awarded to three young research scientists. These will be selected via a strict AIRC assessment process, which guarantees meritocracy, correctness and transparency. The researchers’ efforts and intelligence will focus on the field of tumors that mainly affect women. To support this project, the Molteni Group donated 3 different armchairs by Gio Ponti: D.153.1, D.154.2 and D.156.3.
