On the occasion of the London Design Festival 2022, Molteni&C|Dada is presenting its New Collection, interpreting the theme “Make yourself at home” with an exclusive installation at its Flagship Store on Brompton Road. The brainchild of creative director Vincent Van Duysen and located at the entrance to the space, the multimedia installation will feature a special monochrome edition of the Hector bookcase: the design interweaves the essential lines of the structure with elegant textured boxes inserted into the compartments, framing dedicated monitors with visible connections, expressing the concept of essentiality and simplicity behind the design.

“This installation, inspired by the simplicity of the forms, exudes the defining mood of the entire collection: an ode to lightweight design, influenced by the great examples of pavilions of the Modernist era and dominated by dynamic spaces characterised by exceptionally soft and gentle lines, skilfully combined with details and materials that create products with gentle contours. Simplicity becomes a part of the self, an intrinsic characteristic that is transferred to the designs. This is how the installation expresses this concept, by shedding the superfluous and leaving its elements bare and visible”

With the screens of the installation, Vincent Van Duysen relates the cornerstones of the collection, the need for a link with nature that translates into a clear, luminous and fluid environment, inspired by the pavilions of the Modernist period.In the videos, the voice of Vincent Van Duysen is joined by the narration of Edoarda de Ponti, curator of the Gardella Historical Archive, in an explanation of Ignazio Gardella’s Blevio table: the new addition to the Molteni&C Heritage Collection, ushering in its collaboration with the Ignazio Gardella’s Archives.

Completing the artistic feel of the space, the works of the Cadogan Contemporary gallery blend harmoniously with the furniture of the Flagship Store.

The essentiality of the shapes is extolled by the materials and by the light, in a design that Edoarda de Ponti defines as disarmingly simple. To emphasise the significance of this partnership - which is supported by Molteni&C’s
dedicated focus on highlighting and retracing the steps of a past that is, in fact, highly contemporary - Blevio will be the protagonist of the collection in a panel talk with Edoarda de Ponti.
