“There is a model of a Lombard chair known as “tipo Milano” [...] A simple chair, typically found in Lombardy’s country homes and trattorie. It was this model that inspired my design for the chair dedicated to Milan’s Triennale. In fact, I tried to restore a sense of “normality” to this chair, underlining the “norms” by which good, reassuring, geometrically solid furniture is made, with its purpose instantly recognisable. [...] the perfectly shaped solid wooden seat, and even the chair’s stackability: an unusual feature for an all-wooden chair, but an absolute must for a chair to be used in public spaces.” – Giulio Iacchetti
