Molteni&C focuses its attention once again on the masters of architecture and design with a project involving re-makes of furniture and furnishings designed by renowned 20th century maestro Gio Ponti. A collection of items produced solely for private homes or for small series, presented at the 2012 Salone del Mobile, after lengthy research, selection and analysis of his prototypes, thanks to cooperation and an exclusive agreement signed with Ponti’s heirs. The collection, realized with the art direction of Studio Cerri & Associati, includes furniture and interior decoration items designed by Gio Ponti between 1935 (chair for the first Palazzo Montecatini) and the 1950s (bookcase, chest of drawers, tea table, frames and a rug for Casa Ponti in via Dezza in Milan, 1956-57). A hitherto unseen project, in tandem with the exhibition entitled “Vivere alla Ponti. Le case abitate da Gio Ponti” [Living Ponti-style, The homes inhabited by Gio Ponti], open from 17 April to 4 May at Milan’s Ordine degli Architetti at no.19 via Solferino.
